VENTRICLE
a partition, sac or cavity (e.g., the fluid-filled spaces in the center of the brain, the chambers of the heart).
[VEN-trih-kul]A fluid-filled cavity in the heart or brain.
A chamber of the heart that
pumps blood out. The right ventricle pumps
blood to the lungs where it picks up oxygen; the
left ventricle pumps blood into the aorta, which
cerebral ventricles are interconnected cavities in the brain filled with cerebrospinal fluid.
One of the two pumping chambers of the heart. The right ventricle receives oxygen-poor blood from the right atrium and pumps it to the lungs through the pulmonary artery. The left ventricle receives oxygen-rich blood from the left atrium and pumps it to the body through the aorta.
