BACULOVIRUS

A virus of insects used in the production of some HIV vaccines. See Vaccine.

an insect virus used in the production of subunit vaccines. By splicing a specific HIV gene(s) into the baculovirus genome, and then combining this construct with insect cells, mass quantities of the purified HIV protein(s) coded for by these two HIV gene(s) can be made by the cells for use as a vaccine.
